Eligibility Status
WASC granted CSUMB the Eligibility status typical for all new institutions seeking accreditation

1997

Candidacy Review Visit
This represented the first big step forward in the accreditation process.

1998

Candidacy Status
CSUMB satisfied the requirements set by WASC and was granted Candidacy.

2000

Extension of Candidacy
Following another WASC visit to the campus, CSUMB satisfied the requirements set by WASC and was granted Extension of Candidacy.

2002

Preparatory Review Visit
This first phase of the final review focused on CSUMB's capacity to meet current and future demands.

2003

Educational Effectiveness Review Visit
This second phase of the final review focused on CSUMB's academic model and effectiveness in teaching and learning.

2003

Accreditation
CSUMB satisfied the requirements set by WASC and was granted initial Accreditation at the June 2003 WASC Accrediting Commission meeting. WASC granted initial Accreditation for the maximum period-seven years.

2006
 

Preparing for ReAccreditation
Over the course of the 2006-07 academic year, students, staff, faculty, administrators, and community members participated in an institutional self-study.  The findings were summarized and published in the CSUMB 2007 WASC Proposal.
 

2007

Application for Reaffirmation Review
The CSUMB 2007 WASC Proposal was submitted in October, and accepted by WASC in November.  The proposal identified several topics selected by the campus which would be used to assess the capacity and educational effectiveness of the university.  

2009 Capacity and Preparatory Review
In June, CSUMB submitted the Capacity and Preparatory Review Report.  In September, the campus hosted a six-person WASC review team, whose task was to confirm and evaluate the adequacy of university capacity in regard to structures and infrastructures, making possible the achievement of our educational enterprise.

2011

Educational Effectiveness Review
In December 2010, CSUMB submitted its final accreditation report, the Educational Effectiveness Review Report.  In March, the WASC review team visited campus again, this time to review and affirm educational effectiveness of CSUMB

2011 ReAccreditation Confirmed by WASC
In summer,  having considered all of the materials provided by CSUMB, as well as the reports generated by the WASC review team, the WASC Commission acted to reaffirm CSUMB's accreditation, extending such status until 2019.
March 2014 Interim Report
WASC has requested an interim report which will aprised the Commission of the progress made in several areas of on-going work at the University.  They include: data collection, analysis, and use; analysis of efforts toward improvement of retention and graduation of students; assessment and program review; and, campus engagement in the topic of academic rigor.
